What We Do
River Rangers are the volunteer stewards of the Northeast Avalon region’s rivers. Individually and in groups, they regularly walk the river and report back to NAACAP on their observations. This could range from kingfishers to trout to otters to algal blooms to litter to erosion problems to spillages. These observations are important to the health of the rivers and are maintained on the web for the public to access.
River Rangers are also given the opportunity to get involved in electrofishing, river clean-ups and tree planting as well as other forms of survey work. NAACAP provides training sessions for those wishing to become River Rangers and hold a yearly barbeque for all of our dedicated volunteers!
If your river is not listed on this site, become a River Ranger and we will add it to the list!
