OCI Long Pond Proposal
Ocean Choice International (OCI) has submitted a proposal to develop a new 90-metre wharf and cold storage facility in Long Pond, Conception Bay South. This development would require infilling of 1.7 ha (4 acres), in the middle of Long Pond, an important estuary in the heart of CBS. It has been determined the project does not require an environmental assessment because it is not considered an estuary by the province. It will require a Land Use Impact Assessment Report (LUIAR) by the Town of CBS, which involves public and stakeholder consultation.
NAACAP is an environmental non-profit organization with a volunteer Board of Directors and vision of sustainable, healthy waterways on the Northeast Avalon Peninsula, and therefore keeps up to date on proposed developments of this kind in order to ensure that local residents can stay informed about projects in their area. Links below will be updated as the project develops. If any residents have information they would like to share with NAACAP, please contact naacaptech@gmail.com.
